Originally built for Niels Juul Arge’s metal workshop, the building has a rich history. Over 40 years ago, it was purchased by Jóannis Skorheim, who established his accounting firm here. Since February 2020, Norðlýsið, the local newspaper that has served the northern islands since 1915, has also called this space home. The building has been a part of many historic enterprises, and today, a section of it is dedicated to lectures, meetings, and smaller gatherings.

The Journey of Wool: From Wild to Woven
In a land where the wind sings over jagged cliffs and the sea whispers ancient tales, a sheep stands, its wool thick with the touch of seasons. The Faroese hills have cradled it, the mist has kissed it, and now, it is time.
A shepherd moves through the heather, hands weathered by time but gentle as the dawn. With practiced care, the fleece is gathered—not taken, but gifted, as it has been for centuries.
The raw wool, still carrying the scent of earth and sea, arrives at the mill—a place where tradition and craft entwine like spun fibers. The first touch is coarse, untamed. It holds the wildness of the Faroe Islands within it. But skilled hands know its destiny.
Cleansing begins—not to strip away its story, but to reveal its truth. The wool is washed in pure water, the way rain softens the land. It is carded, combed, untangled, until every fiber aligns, ready to dance together.
Then, the spinning—an ancient rhythm, a lullaby of motion. The wheel turns, the wool stretches, lengthens, twists. Roughness yields to silkiness, chaos to harmony. The yarn takes shape, fine and strong, like the bonds between those who work it.
At last, it rests in hands that know its worth. Soft as a whisper, warm as a Faroese embrace, the wool has become yarn—ready to be woven into something that will carry the soul of these islands wherever it may go.
And so, from the wild to the woven, the story of Faroese wool continues—threading past and present into something beautifully, endlessly alive.
